- Title
Time to Spring the Final Closet: Gay Clergy.
- Authors
Mungello, D. E.
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses the history of religious gay people whose spirituality strengthened their same-sex affinities. The author states that apart from Professor Mark D. Jordan, there are few academic followers to the gay historian John Boswell, who tried to harmonize his Roman Catholicism with sexuality. The author says that Bishop Paul Moore, Jr. became popular as a leader in the Civil Rights battles of the 1960s and gay ordination conflicts of the 1970s.
