- Abstract
A clinico-therapeutic study was conducted on seventeen dogs showing symptoms of gastritis. The temperature and pulse rates (104 ± 2.25°F and 160 ± 1.24 b. p. m respectively) along with a hematocrit (PCV) of 72 ± 1.42 (Mean ± SD) percent was recorded. The serum Sodium and Potassium were recorded to be 142 ± 1.32 mmol/L and 2.8 ± 2.36 mmol/L (Mean ± SD) respectively. The gastroscopic examination of the cases revealed diffuse mucosal hyperemia, minute ulceration at the duodenal sphincter and greenish biliary fluid in the stomach. 44.44% (4/9) cases were found positive for Helicobacter spp. Treatment regimen of ofloxacin, tinidazole, domperiodone, dicyclo- mine and Intalyte was highly effective for canine gastritis.
