The article presents a literary criticism of the short story, "When the Door Opened..." by Sarah Grand which is included in her collection "Emotional Moments." Topics discussed include a reflective passage on the aesthetics of human affairs, Grand's narrative strategy, the impact of the story's ending to readers, characters and the plot, Grand's exploration of the issue of gender relations through her emphasis on keys and doors and the wife's freedom as another focus of the story.
