- Authors
Duling, Ennis
- Abstract
The article presents an examination into the history of the late 18th-century writer Thomas Anburey, his published accounts of the Battle of Hubbardton in Vermont during the U.S. Revolutionary War, and the consequences of the historical accuracy of his work on later historiography. A detailed overview of Anburey's book "Travels Through the Interior Parts of America" is given, noting its description of the battle. Comments are then given evaluating the validity of the book, noting its inconsistencies and plagiarisms. Discussion is also provided evaluating the existence and need for new sources and studies of the battle independent of Anburey's work.
