- Title
TRANSLATING NATURE: THE DISCOURSE OF NATURAL HISTORY IN THE JOURNALS OF THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION.
- Authors
Buckley, Michael G.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the book "The Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition", edited by Gary Moulton. It outlines the work as a significant piece of discovery and expansion literature and discusses the symbolism of the expedition. The scientific nature of the writing is examined and it is argued that the journals should be considered as translations rather than as epic writings of natural history.
