- Abstract
The article highlights developments in medical policy worldwide. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to block importation of over 30 generic drugs made by Indian drug giant Ranbaxy. The British Medical Research Council had provided £3.7 million for developing a research center that will bring together government, academia and drug companies to improve drug safety. The U.S. Howard Hughes Medical Institute has elected biochemist Robert Tjian as its president.
