- Title
Protein localization: Can too much lipid glue stop Ras?
- Authors
Cox, Adrienne D.
- Abstract
The article offers information on how to control the subcellular localization of cell signaling components for accurate regulation of signalling. It states that acylation by S-palmitoylation is vital for proper localization and peripheral membrane protein activity. It says that the recognition of compounds that are suitable for drug development and the capability of interfering the process has been hindered by the lack of consensus about the molecular machinery.
