- Title
THE ROLE OF SEX IN ORGANIZATIONAL NEGOTIATION ABILITY.
- Authors
Nadler, Lawrence B.; Nadler, Marjorie Keeshan
- Abstract
This article deals with the role of sex in organizational negotiation ability. In the last decade, much attention has been devoted to the relationship between sex and gender and communication variables, such as language, usage, nonverbal behavior, effectiveness and orientation toward communicative interaction. An examination of women's progress in corporations reveals the need to explore systematically the factors that influence their organizational outcomes. For example, Murphy reports that the income of women who work full time is fifty-nine percent that of men. Similarly Linden asserts that women managers and administrators earn only 52 percent of their male counterparts. Before examining the nature and role of self-perceptions and behavioral orientations to negotiation, the authors believe that the development of communications factors within the individual must be understood.
