- Abstract
The article discusses the results of a cross-sectional study of lower abdominal pain in girls and young women presented at a pediatric emergency department (PED). It examines the effectiveness of plasma interleukin-6 (IL-6) or neutrophil cluster of differentiation-64 (CD64) in distinguishing surgical diagnoses from nonsurgical diagnoses in young women with lower abdominal pain. The study showed an elevated IL-6 in surgical patients compared with nonsurgical patients.
