- Title
Economic evidence in epilepsy: a review.
- Authors
Ekman, Mattias; Forsgren, Lars
- Abstract
The article discusses the costs of epilepsy and data sources, gaps in the literature and research opportunities in Europe. The data showed that the disability level, temporal stage of disease and health-care setting are important in determining the treatment patterns of epilepsy patients. Better data on costs and outcomes may help health authorities to make decisions to establish new approaches to treat stroke. The study can also serve as a basis for future cost-effectiveness studies of new drugs being evaluated in therapeutic trials or of new management strategies of epilepsy patients.
