DO REAL DIFFERENCES EXIST BETWEEN OLD AND NEW CURRICULA?
- Authors
Esler, William K.
- Abstract
The article presents a study that seeks to determine whether there exist differences between old and new curricula in science education in the U.S. The study is conducted involving three high schools and approximately three hundred fifty five chemistry students. The chemistry programs of the three schools were selected so as to comprise an array of instruction. Chemistry students of school A are taught using a laboratory centered program while school B are taught using recent text and laboratory materials that incorporate the concepts and exercises of recent curriculum developments. Results of the study indicate an existing difference in the nature of classroom activities that take place in the classes employing different curriculum.
