The "regionalization" is a pending issue of Ecuador's political agenda, well the equitable development, the autonomy and the decentralization of the different government levels continue being objective to achieve. This article endorses this debate through a historical-critical and interdisciplinary discussion over the institutionalization and evolution of the National Planning in Ecuador (1952-1982) and the "physicist" and "regional" approaches of the National Development Plans. For this purpose, are analyzed studies, schemes and plans, elaborated by national, international and regional developmet entities: proposals that will be formulated in supporting Center-South Region develompment and partially implemented at the microregional scale.
