- Abstract
The success of many current data fusion schemes in ad-hoc wireless sensor networks or WSNs is on the premise that sensor nodes and their feedbacks are trusted, thus those schemes are unsuitable for security sensitive ad-hoc WSNs. To ensure the reliable functioning of WSNs and trustful feedbacks, reputation mechanism is incorporated into the process of data fusion. In this research, we in itia lly investigate and analyse current representative reputation based data fusion schemes as well as Bayesian theory based reputation methods. According to the findings of the analysis, a reliable data fusion method is proposed for ad-hoc WSNs. The proposed method utilizes the multiple parameter features in negative multinomial reputation and takes the unknown facts into consideration, wh ich makes it more practical for real applications in WSNs. The proposed method is evaluated against existing schemes using several simulations and the results demonstrate that our method possesses better overall performance in terms of data fusion reliab ility as well as accuracy.
