- Abstract
The history of the study of administrative science in Germany from the creation of the first academic chair for "cameral science" in 1727 is traced with special emphasis upon the Speyer Academy. The origins of the Speyer Academy and its predecessors, as well as the structure and curriculum of the Academy, are described. The role of the Speyer Academy in German administration is critically treated and the needs of the future assessed.
