The article discusses engine design and construction in the classroom. The article presents a history of engines, referring to the inventions of historical figures such as Hero of Alexandria, John Newcomen, and James Watt among others. The author explains how the design of the engine evolved, referring to the utilization of condensing steam and a method that limits atmospheric pressure. Scientists later developed ways to better control external combustion engines. The article discusses the impact of engines on society and the environment. It also discusses how to incorporate technological education in the classroom, presenting various engine projects geared toward students.
