- Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the performance of Luigi Nono's chamber music pieces "The Forest Is Young and Full of Life" by the International Contemporary Ensemble and their application on 21st century global society amidst international conflicts and war. Details are given of the Italian composer's political views and influences on his compositions, particularly his scored use of prisoners' testimonials. The pieces' context within their first performances in the 1960s are compared with their reproduction in 2007 as criticism against the Vietnam and Iraq wars.
