B Susannah Ottaway b (sottaway@carleton.edu) is Laird Bell Professor of History at Carleton College and the author of I The Decline of Life: Old Age in Eighteenth-Century England i (2004), as well as recent articles on English workhouses in I The Historical Journal i and the I Journal of Social History i . She is the author of I The Victorian Actress in the Novel and on the Stage i (2019) and of a book on reinterpretations of I Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde i (2005).
