- Abstract
The article discusses the way in which the transmission of certain texts impacted Icelandic cultural memory in the medieval and early modern periods, with focus given to the relationship between gender and transmission. The author examines the preservation of literature, legal documents, and devotional literature during this period. She explores how the Reformation led to the loss of Latin manuscripts in Iceland and the dissemination of stories pertaining to Icelandic women heroes.
