- Abstract
We have received the letter/comment from Dr. Bonaventura and collaborators [[1]] on our "Hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia are risk factors for falls in the hospital population" recently published on Acta Diabetologica [[2]]. There were 5% patients treated in the subgroup of the non-fall population (2822 patients treated with oral hypoglycemic agents out of 56,652 patients) and 9.9% of the fall population (75 patients treated out of 759) (OR 2.09, I p i < 0.0001). We found additionally that in this group of 75 patients that fell, 1 patient was on acarbose (1%), 5 patients were treated with glimepiride (7%), 7 patients with repaglinide (9%) and 62 patients with metformin (83%).
