- Authors
Stein, Steve
- Abstract
The author discusses conflict between preservationists interested in protecting ecosystems and environments and conservationists interested in developing sustainable energy plants through wind power and solar power. Topics include a possible solar plant from BrightSource Energy that would require the relocation of desert tortoises from the Mojave desert, tax credits, the cost of developing nuclear power plants, and the social aspects of inexpensive energy. Environmental groups including The Friends of the Earth (FOE), the U.S. Environmental Defense Fund, and the Sierra Club are mentioned.
