The author discusses how patient communication can facilitate the growth of a dental office. He comments on Robert B. Cialdini's book "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" and how influence is often considered with the negative association of manipulation. He talks about how dentists can influence people to make good decisions and suggests dentists spend several minutes learning about patients prior to asking why they arrived.
