- Title
Scientific Reasoning: Influences on Task Performance and Response Categorization.
- Authors
Linn, Marcia C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the factors which emerge in the analysis of different tasks in terms of the theory of psychologist Jean Piaget and in evaluating the curricula of science teaching. In the pendulum interview, subjects were asked why they chose specific responses and were given counter propositions. Different aspects of the questions used for the ramp problem include stating the problem, presenting concrete information, and checking the order of response strategies. A detailed description of the invisible magnetism experiment which involves a spinning pointer is also presented.
