- Abstract
Soil, crucial for food production and human health, is suffering degradation due to a lack of public policies and societal awareness. Environmental Education - EA is seen as a solution to mitigate negative impacts on the soil, promoting awareness and changing habits. Thus, a study developed by Silva, Lacerda and Radons (2023) identified how sustainability has been addressed in Brazilian educational institutions, however, in this analysis, the presence of the soil constituent was not explored. Given this, this research seeks to understand how the topic of soil appears in these institutional spaces, in the period from 2015 to 2021. For this, the 99 works identified by Silva, Lacerda and Radons (2023) were used as a basis to analyze how soils are inserted in them. As a result, it was possible to notice a great lack of research in the area, representing only 21.2% of the total studies. Furthermore, 19 of the 21 articles mention soil superficially, without exploring its importance or practical application. It is concluded that there is an extreme need to deal with soils in educational institutions for their protection.
