- Abstract
Quantitative and cross-sectional study with the objective of evaluating the factors influencing the levels of perceived stress in the elderly, using the Perceived Stress Scale. It was observed that 30% of the participants obtained scores above the 75 percentile and the highest mean scores were among elderly females, illiterate, with undefined marital status, housewives, without defined family income, who do not perform physical activity and leisure. There was a significant difference related to gender and leisure activities. These findings suggest that Interventions to control perceived stress in the elderly may contribute to reducing the possible negative consequences that stress may have on the health of this population.
