Abstract: Since the "Decade of the Brain" in the 1990s, there has been a "neuroscientific revolution" on a global scale. The neurosciences seem to have become established as the best way to understand human beings, and promise to provide the key to the most diverse phenomena. From their most basic sensory experiences to their most complex cultural creations, human beings have become a "cerebral subject." What will be the result of this revolution, which some say will herald a "new humanism" and bring about radical transformations in our approaches to morality, education or justice? The present article explores this question by focusing on how the social sciences and the humanities have responded to the neuroscientific revolution.
