A new species of the genus Psammodius Fallén, 1807, Psammodius boreoitalicus sp. nov. from northeastern Italy, is described, and compared with a species exerting most similar morphological characters, Psammodius asper (Fabricius, 1775). External characters (the habitus and details), the epipharynx and aedeagus are illustrated. The differential diagnosis is summarised in a table.
