- Abstract
The article analyzes texts written by anthropologist Rémi Savard and published in newspapers. The author discusses how Savard voiced his concerns about the relations between the Québécois and the Indians of Eastern North America. The analysis focuses specifically on Québec newspapers and the question concerning the role and status of Indians in an independent Québec or in its future. Topics include some of Savard's observations on the Indian tribes, the Canadian federal government, the government of Québec, and the relations between Québec’s society and the Indian tribes.
