- Abstract
The quantitative description of morphological features is the basis for the study of three-dimensional morphological reconstruction and mechanical behavior of rock fragments. The characterization of two-dimensional morphological features of fragments was focused. Randomly selected crushed rock fragments of different sizes were studied using digital image processing techniques and the Image-Pro Plus image measurement method to extract basic geometric data of the rock fragments. A morphological feature description system was established based on circularity, sphericity, rectangularity, and fragments size as indicators. Scatter plot fitting and multivariate parameter fitting were performed on the measurement results. The significance of the impact of shape parameters was determined through correlation analysis, eliminating insignificant factors and parameters with low correlation to construct the CSR ( circularity, sphericity, rectangularity) morphological feature description system for rock fragments. The results show that circularity represents the regularity of the two-dimensional morphological features of fragments, while fragments size has lower correlation. Both sphericity and rectangularity are found to be correlated, and regression analysis reveale that sphericity had the most significant impact. Comparative analysis results demonstrated that the CSR index system has a higher accuracy in characterizing the macroscopic two-dimensional morphology of fragments.
