- Abstract
This study about the economics of digital journalism focuses on transformations and development of media industries in the digital world. The technological rapid advances in the field of communication led to a new kind of media that relies on internet as a medium. Today, News are delivered and consumed via internet. The move to digital delivery has transformed not just the business model of news, but also the way news are reported, aggregated, distributed, and shared. Competition among digital news sites has also prompted the search for new financial resource streams. Furthermore, this study sheds light on the economics of digital journalism that changed our understanding of production, consumption and profits. It provides a definition about digital journalism and its elements. In addition, it explains how new technologies transformed media industries. Then, it provides insights into investing in a News website and recommendations on how to successfully design and adopt a sustainable resilient business model.
