- Title
Understanding Salaries In the A/E Industry.
- Authors
ALLEN, KATE
- Abstract
The article discusses the compensation strategies of companies in the U.S. architecture and engineering (A/E) industry as of February 1, 2014. Base pay is considered as an expense, so many firms adopt a philosophy of paying a lower base pay and making up the difference with bonuses, which allows them to adjust to variable market conditions. An assessment of key financial metrics affecting compensation options is presented including direct labor costs, profit and net revenues.
