- Abstract
The objective in this work is to show the difficulties that adults encounter in accessing vaccination in non-EPI settings. We have included this study in a mixed approach to data collection: a semi-directive interview with 1 doctor and 1 nurse and a questionnaire addressed to 80 adults according to the reasoned choice technique. The study shows that vaccine responses in adults are not up to the threat posed by circulating diseases in the Bouaké region. The following factors are the causes: the socio-cultural representations of adults related to vaccination, the cost of vaccines and the option for traditional african medication. The part of ignorance among these factors is negligible, because adults who do not know the usefulness of the vaccination act are a minority (12%). Given the difficulties associated with vaccination of adults, the State would benefit from facilitating the accessibility of vaccines by lowering the cost of these vaccines. It is also important to popularize health promotion actions by raising awareness about the usefulness of vaccination, the challenge being human development for the socio-economic development of Côte d'Ivoire.
