- Abstract
The article describes the challenges of power supply for industrial applications with limited space and presents compact power modules in micro format as a solution. The requirements for such modules are explained using an intralogistics application and obstacles in implementing DC/DC converters with limited space are highlighted. The article discusses the switching behavior and efficiency of such modules and compares pulse width modulation (PWM) with pulse frequency modulation (PFM). In addition, the requirements for a DC/DC converter with low rail voltages are explained and the micro module 171930601 is presented as a solution. It offers an input voltage range of 3.5 to 36 V and an adjustable output voltage.
