- Abstract
This text discusses the necessity to reorganize the school calendar for indigenous schools in the state of Amazonas. It’s known that in the 21st century, especially from the year 2020 onwards, major problems have arisen for the foundations of school education, in the ways of understanding knowledge and the purposes of schooling; also, about the ways of acting in teaching and student learning, placing both managers and teachers, students and families in front of huge uncertainties. For Indigenous School Education this brought the need to reorganize the school calendar to meet classes during the pandemic period. The result of this process showed that the reorganized calendar was implemented with some points of bigger attention, such as the need for continuing education and the lack of teaching materials. Evidence shows that the school was once a stage for homogenization and denial of ethnic differences and is currently the place of new possibilities, as it seeks to meet the expectations and aspirations of the indigenous group, for its strengthening. The indigenous school reinvented its spaces, allowing students to take classes in the gradual and/or alternating model, leading teachers and students to rethink the way to undertake learning.
