The article discusses the role of English Queen Mary II in the joint government of England with her husband, King William III. Topics include Mary's role in commanding the English navy, Mary's decisions regarding the punishment of traitors, particularly Jacobites, and Mary's attendance at meetings of the government Council of Nine. Also noted the political implications of Mary's claim to the English crown, the role of the second Earl of Nottingham as secretary of state, and William's trips abroad to command troops in the Nine Years' War.
