Is tixocortol pivalate a photoallergen?

- Abstract
There is a single case report of hydrocortisone causing photoallergic contact dermatitis and it was found that contact sensitivity to hydrocortisone /tixocortol pivalate occurs more frequently among those with chronic actinic dermatitis. To establish if photoallergic contact reactions occur more commonly to corticosteroids than currently suspected, tixocortol pivalate was included in the photopatch series. No evidence for tixocortol pivalate being a common photoallergen was found, despite a significantly higher number of patients with contact allergy.
