- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 3125-gram term newborn male infant who revealed a skin defect, aplasia cutis congenita (ACC), involving the cranium during delivery and multiple malformations which include cleft palate and lip, atrial septal defect, and microphthalmia. Topics discussed include the association of bone involvement to the skin defect, the use of topical silvadene gauze in dressing the lesion to avoid infection, and complications related to the risk of ACC.
