- Abstract
The article analyzes the current use of 34 zoomorphisms from Constantino Suárez's Cuban Vocabulary, a century after its publication. These expressions were compared in later dictionaries, on the websitecorp.org.uk, and through surveys. The results show the presence of lexical variants and the validity, in over 65% of the expressions, of the meaning collected by Suárez in 1921. The study is part of the research projects of the Phraseology Studies Group of Cuba and the universities of Holguín and Oriente.
