- Abstract
Investigates the safety and effectiveness of tandospirone in the treatment of generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and mixed anxiety-depression. Symptoms to cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational or other important areas of functioning in GAD; Monitoring of withdrawl symptoms in the patients; Anxiety symptoms to be rated on the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) before the start of treatment; Determination of plasma concentration and efficacy; Use of the Mann-Whitney U-test to compare percentage improvement; Suggestion from the results that a comparatively high dose of tandospirone has excellent anxiolytic efficacy that is comparable to that of the benzodiazepines BZDs, without having serious adverse effects.
