The article presents a study of garter snake population and dynamics. It outlines the utilization of the serpent as model for ecological and evolutionary inquiries due to their role as effective indicators of trophic complexity. An overview of a survey indicating sex-specific survival rates and time-dependent capture possibilities also presented.
