- Abstract
This article offers information about Elias Boudinot and the Cherokee removal. He is the editor of the first bilingual American Indian newspaper, the Cherokee Phoenix. He utilized the newspaper as a platform for explaining and depending his own point of view. It is suggested that Cherokee Phoenix was for reinventing the Cherokees as a literate nation with written laws and an educated population towards citizenry. When he returned from Cherokee Nation in United States, he signed his name on a petition regarding the removal of Cherokees. On the other hand, the "Trail of Tears," pushed the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. It is also said that the press was destructed by the U.S. military when the "Trail of Tears," has started.
