- Abstract
The main objective of this work was to analyze the organizational commitment of employees who work at commercial division of an agribusiness company located in São Paulo that went through an acculturation process. Secondary objectives researched: identifying the predominant organizational commitment; checking the significant differences of commitment between the respondents, considering the variables: sex, age, position and time in the company; and checking the significant correlation between the types of commitment investigated and the variables: sex, age, position and time in the company. In order to achieve those objectives, a descriptive research was carried out under the quantitative method with 85% of employees of researched division (N = 51). The instrument used was the EBACO scale developed by Medeiros (2003) and validated by Bastos et al (2008). Statistical procedures based on descriptive and inferential analysis were performed. The results revealed that the predominant organizational commitment, after the process of acculturation, was based on performance with on the normative focus as a basis. In addition, it was possible to observe that among the demographic variables studied, the position and the time in the company were the ones that had greater relevance, because they presented significant results both for the existence of differences of commitment among the researched individuals, as for the existence of correlation with the types of commitment studied.
