- Abstract
This article reports on a study that looked at the risk variation in people who have the BRCA1 and BRCA 2 genes that are thought to be a contributory cause to getting breast cancer. Breast cancer victims with the gene mutations who were related to people with the disease were studied. The characteristics of the probands and this group were compared to see variations between the relatives and families. The study found significant variations in breast cancer risk among carriers of the BRCA1 and the BRCA2 genes.
