- Abstract
The Childhood Cancer and its consequences have been receiving an increasing attention because of the mortality rates. Developing adequate treatments in order to control this situation might ensure children's life quality. The emergence of playing games in hospitals to improve life quality and hospital humanization has its influence in mood and its immediate product, laughter, encouraged and increasingly adopted as a great and valuable support in the recovery of childhood cancer patients. Besides, the insertion of laughter therapy of children's cancer recovery, either through stimulating activities and fun, or even the use of the figure of a clown not only brighten the child or environment, but also to tries to soften the unpleasant sensations of hospitalization.The data collection was performed in a systematic computerized database between the years of 2008 and 2010, using the keywords child, fun, laughter, cortisol and childhood cancer. A non-systematic research of scientific publications was also done. The results were presented in three subjects: the childhood cancer and the hospitalized children; the mother, the family and the nurse when facing childhood cancer and the fun and laughter. The review showed the importance of fun in the hospital in order to supply the basic social and emotional needs of a child with cancer.
