- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the Tasmanian Parliamentary Joint Standing Committee of Public Accounts which is one of the longest established public accounts committee in the Commonwealth. Topics discussed include the establishment of the committee in 1862, the scrutiny of local government loan applications for sundry works from 1876 to 1943, and auditor-general Frederick Batt's report and the 1948 constitutional crisis.
