- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges that faced proponents of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) in convincing the immigrant work force in Trail, British Columbia back in the fall of 1938 to join the Local 480 of the International Union of Mine, Mills and Smelter Workers. Topics include the efforts of trade union organizer Arthur Evans, his successor John McPeake's actions, and the effect of World War II on the workers of the area.
