- Title
Fixed minimum fluid volume for resuscitation: Con.
- Authors
Perner, Anders; Singer, Mervyn
- Abstract
An editorial is presented, in which the author discusses fixed fluid volume of body weight during initial fluid resuscitation for patients with septic shock. It mentions reduction of circulating blood volume is due to internal compartment shifts from capillary leak and from pooling of blood in the small vessels. It also mentions the views of advanced haemodynamic monitoring to identify benefit from fluids, vasopressors or inotropes.
