- Title
What is a support vector machine?
- Authors
Noble, William S.
- Abstract
The article provides an detailed insight into the applications of support vector machines (SVM) in life sciences. SVM, a computer algorithm used in biomedical applications, classifies the microarray gene expression profiles automatically. The result is increased accuracy in the data analysis of gene expression measurements. The article demonstrates cancer classification from gene expression profiles and comments that SVM is superior to other methods of analysis.
