- Abstract
The article discusses a study which compared measures of bone mineral density (BMD), microarchitecture and trabecular bone mechanical competence in postmenopausal women with and without fragility fractures at central and peripheral sites. Finite-element analysis (FEA) of HR-pQCT scans was performed in the study to estimate bone stiffness. It was also hypothesized that HR-pQCT and FEA would reveal differences in bone mass, microarchitecture, and mechanical competence between women with and without fracture.
