- Authors
Cloak, Trevor
- Abstract
The article examines the impact of Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA) to the popularity of video-sharing Internet sites (VSI) such as www.YouTube.com. It was stated that DMAC was created to prevent the problem of online copyright infringement and to protect Internet service providers (ISPs) from future liability. It highlights the origins of Youtube, the previous law on copyright before the approval of DMCA and its significance to ISPs. In addition, the potential of YouTube to violate the theories of copyright infringement and a comprehensive option to balance the interests of copyright owners and VSIs are discussed.
