Understanding COVID-19 Pathophysiology: What Defines Progress?
- Authors
Waterer, Grant
- Abstract
The author comments on a study that analyzed tissue samples from several autopsy cases of patients who died of COVID-19. He discusses the significance of the discovery of increased inflammatory proteins in the lungs of the autopsy subjects and of different patterns of response depending on when the COVID patients are dying. He also describes the limitations of the study, including the difficulty in determining the extent to which the findings are truly specific to SARS-CoV-2.
